One of St. Mark's ongoing ministries is to serve the homeless by offering a meal following the worship service each week. This meal is open to all who attend the worship service and becomes an avenue for fellowship for all—members and visitors alike. In the past two years as the number of homeless being served each week has grown, an increasing number of Partners in Ministry have joined us in the preparing and serving of a delicious meal to the hungry. We welcome others to become involved as a way of responding to Christ’s call to each of us to be in service to “the least of these.” Contact Reverend Anita Dinwiddie at 504-523-0450 to learn more about how to become a Partner in Ministry.
In addition to the Homeless Meal Ministry, a part of St. Mark’s budget goes toward occasionally providing bus tokens, socks, and gift cards to those in need. At Christmas and Easter we offer shelter vouchers. Some of our Partners in Ministry have been involved from time to time in preparing “Manna Bags” (non-perishable food items in zip-lock bags), blankets, toiletries, etc. At Christmas we distribute to the homeless we serve regularly a stocking filled with a pair of socks, gloves, $10 gift card, 4 bus tokens, and candy.
St. Mark's feeds over 100 people each Sunday. We welcome your contributions to help support this growing ministry!
