About St. Mark's homeless ministry

Fellowship Picnic (Reconciling Sunday, May 2006)

One of St. Mark's ongoing ministries is to serve the homeless by offering a meal following the worship service each week.  This meal is open to all who attend the worship service and becomes an avenue for fellowship for all—members and visitors alike.

In addition to the fellowship meal, a part of St. Mark’s budget goes toward providing bus tokens monthly and gift cards to those in need.  Prior to Hurricane Katrina, shelter vouchers were also provided each week to the homeless.  This ministry will resume as shelters providing this service become available.

Ways to become a partner in the homeless ministry include:

St. Mark's is now (Spring 2007) feeding over 50 people each Sunday. We welcome your contributions to help support this growing ministry!

  • Preparing a main dish to serve 50 +
  • Helping to serve the meal and clean up in the 11:00 o’clock hour
  • Financial support payable to: St. Mark’s United Methodist Church
