
St. Mark's tradition of justice ministry extends from early de-segregation efforts to openness to the Gay/Lesbian/Bi/Transgender community.
The Reconciling Ministries Network was formed nationally as an association of like-minded Wesleyan faith-based communities. St. Mark's was a founding member.
In May each year, we emphasize this commitment on Reconciling Sunday. Also part of this outreach are topical meetings and social gatherings.
St. Mark’s will hold its annual Reconciling Sunday on July 17, 2011. We are pleased to be welcoming back Reverend Dr. Karen Oliveto to be the guest preacher. Karen is a minister in the California Conference, serving at Glide Memorial in San Francisco.
Anne P. Brown joined us us May 30, 2010, for our annual Reconciling Sunday. She spoke at our 10 am morning worship and then came back in the afternoon as we screened and discussed her film, Incompatible with Christian Teaching.




In 2009, we combined our Reconciling Sunday with our Centennial Celebration. Jorge Lockward, our 2008 guest speaker, joined us again several Sundays later as our music leader in worship. Jorge – St. Mark’s is ready for another visit! .

Jorge A. Lockward was with us on June 1, 2008, for our 2008 Reconciling Sunday. Well known in ecumenical circles as a worship leader and workshop facilitator, Jorge led a workshop on global music at St Mark's. Jorge has served as Board Member for the Reconciling Ministries Network and is actively involved in the work United Methodists of Color for a Fully Inclusive Church.


Rev. Dr. Karen Oliveto joined St. Mark's for Reconciling Sunday 2007 on May 27, 2007! Dr. Oliveto is Faculty at the Pacific School of Religion and serves on the Reconciling Ministries Network board.
Rev. Beth Stroud joined St. Mark's for Reconciling Sunday 2006 on May 21, 2006. Beth brought the first of several post-Katrina prayer quilt gifts from her church in Philadelphia, First United Methodist Church of Germantown.
