"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me."
Matthew 25:35 NIV
Advocacy
Together New Orleans
St. Mark’s is a founding member of Together New Orleans, a faith-based organizing network that works for solutions to the city and state’s biggest problems. Pastor Cory Sparks serves as Secretary of the Board, leading a network that includes 250 organizations and is the largest grassroots organization in Louisiana history, representing more than 200,000 people. St. Mark’s also promotes civic engagement in the French Quarter, Treme, and Marigny by hosting candidate forums and community meetings.
The mission of Together Louisiana is to give faith and community-based organizations an opportunity to develop the leadership capacity of their members and affect change on a larger scale than they could alone.
Mission
Kairos Prison Ministry
Kairos Prison Ministry International, Inc. (Kairos) is a lay-led, interdenominational Christian ministry in which men and women volunteers bring Christ's love and forgiveness to prisoners and their families. The word, Kairos, is a Greek word meaning in "God's Special Time" or in the "Fullness of Time," indicating an opportunity for our participants and guests to reconsider their life choices.
Outreach
Feeding Ministry
At French Quarter UMC, we are dedicated to stepping up our efforts in addressing this issue. Advocacy is by no means an easy feat, but through cooperation and community empowerment we believe we can facilitate progress in this area. We are always striving to make a difference, and invite you to learn more and lend your support.
Partnership
Make A Food Bag
Churches and organizations are invited to support our outreach ministry by making food bags. Bags are distributed to the hungry who visit us in need of help. Food bags are filled with nonperishable food and drink items, Scripture and information about the church.
