In January 2007, we began our newest outreach ministry to the residents of Christopher Inn.  Christopher Inn is the only residential facility for senior citizens on limited income in the French Quarter.  On the last Sunday afternoon of each month we gather to celebrate the birthdays of the residents who have birthdays in that month. 

Flyers are posted on each of the eight floors of the building featuring the names of those celebrating birthdays and inviting everyone to join in the fun.  St. Mark’s supplies the cake and coffee, and we involve those in attendance in some form of activity during the hour we are there.

The attendance has increased each month.  The feedback has been very positive, from the residents themselves, the staff of Christopher Inn and from the outreach team members.  An added bonus as a result of this ministry has been welcoming two of the residents in worship at St. Mark’s on several occasions.  God has blessed St. Mark’s to be a blessing in our community.  This is certainly one of those blessings!
